Public Hearings to continue at the Infected Blood Public Inquiry

Public Hearings to continue at the Infected Blood Public Inquiry

Des Collins, Senior Partner of Collins Solicitors, representing over 1,200 victims and their families, comments:

“Tomorrow, Tuesday 8th October, we will continue to hear evidence at the Infected Blood Public Inquiry from those affected and infected by the contaminated blood products scandal.

This remains, by far, the worst treatment scandal in the history of the NHS. Thousands of people, mostly needing treatment for haemophilia, were given blood products (Factor 8 and Factor 9) infected either with Hepatitis C, HIV or both in the 1970s and 1980s. The result was, and remains, catastrophic. Thousands have died or are dying, many more are ill and families have been devastated.

This Inquiry intends to get – finally – to the bottom of what happened, to find out why it happened and to determine who was responsible.

Collins Solicitors can help put the media in touch with a number of people infected or affected, who may be ready to tell their story. Please don’t hesitate to contact us:
