We have the expertise to provide legal advice, guidance and support to children, parents and other relatives when local authorities issue proceedings in relation to concerns about the care of children.
We have two solicitors from Collins, one male, Paul McGinley, and one female, Donna Downes, who are able to represent the adult parties in a sensitive manner throughout the often distressing court and assessment process. Donna Downes is a member of the Law Society Children Panel which accredits her to represent children who are subject to the court application and party to the proceedings.
Parents of children subject to care proceedings as well as the subject child are automatically entitled to publicly funded legal aid. Other relatives may be eligible for legal aid but in most cases will be subject to a means and merits test before publicly funded legal aid can be granted.
